May 29, 2018-Relaxing at the resort, dinner at Fare Manuia/Lucky House

Today we have nothing planned!  Breakfast is the same as days before.  Richard has his vegetables but then gets a piece of spicy chicken sausage and a roll to make a sandwich.  I get the fruit I love, a pain au chocolate, bacon, and an omelet with cheese, tomato, and onion.  There's a bit too much onion so I have to take out quite a bit from my omelet as I don't want the onion to overpower the other ingredients.  A guy comes around with watermelon juice which he says is a local speciality so we decide to try it.  It tastes like juice from a watermelon!  Not bad but I prefer the pineapple or tropical fruit juices.

We return the car to AVIS handing over the gas receipt.  It's checked-no problem.  On our walk back to our bungalow we run into Billy and Michelle who are leaving today.  It's been nice chatting with them.  We are on the beach by 9:30 AM.  It's going to be another beautiful day.  We watch people kayaking, a lady trying to do stand up paddle board, a guy attempting to kite surf.  The water is so warm but feels so good.  Around noon we decide to take a break.  Back to our bungalow where we have some snacks and drinks.  Got to finish that bottle of rum!.  We decide to explore the rest of the pontoon where we are located just to see if the view is better at the end.  It's not.  We return to the beach and decide to try kayaking again.  This time we don't tip over!  We call it quits around 4:40 PM.  More drinks-Hinano for Richard and rum with pineapple juice for me.

Dinner-Fare Manuia/Lucky House.  Passed this place when we went to the little market store the other day.  Have heard good things about it.  It's just minutes walking from our resort.  It's almost 6:30 PM and the place is already busy.  Fortunately for us there is a table for 2 available so we get seated right away.  The menus-drinks and food-are quite extensive.  Entering the restaurant heading to our seating in the middle we pass the wood burning brick oven which is how the pizzas are done.  That settles it for me.  I was disappointed with the pizza we had in Moorea but this should be much better I hope.  I order the margherita pizza and Richard opts for the chicken caesar salad.  Drinks are Hinano blonde (no amber) for him and just a can of coke for me.  My pizza is huge.  I can handle half or 4 slices and Richard helps with the rest/4 slices.  It is so good.  Thin crust, crispy, just right blending of sauce, cheese, and spices.  Perfect!  Richard gives me some of his salad and it's tasty as well.  A great meal.  Reasonable prices.  The place is packed now and I can understand why.  Good service, good food, affordable prices.  Unfortunately the table behind us has been seated with 2 couples-maybe 30s/40s.  They are talking extremely loud and their conversation is sexual/vulgar.  The table in front of us has an older couple and the man is giving them some not so nice looks.  It's uncomfortable to listen to them and you can tell other diners are not happy.  Right next to these couples is a table with parents and their age 6 or 7 little girl.  This is not good.  But what can you do??  I think the local staff is just too polite to say anything to them.  You can only hope they get quieter.  I hate to say this also but it appears these 2 couples are from NY or NJ/USA.  I'm cringing.  Dessert is a scoop of passion fruit ice cream for me.  It is terrific.  We leave and that loud table is still going strong.  Glad we're going.  Credit card accepted.  Cost with tip 5600 XPF/$55.02.  Back at our resort we see dancing, singing.  A theme dinner is going on.  There are people on the outskirts watching so I stop for a few minutes.  Richard keeps going back to the bungalow.  There's a full moon.  We are in bed by 9:00 PM.  Tomorrow we have another snorkeling excursion.

  1. Lovely report! I spend 5weeks in French Polynesia and Cook Islands and Lucky House was probably the best meal I had on the whole trip! The pepper sauce that came with my steak was the best I've had in my whole life. Awesome place!

We also went to many places you did, like Le Mayflower, Coco d'Isle and Bora Bora Yacht Club.
